TSA Pre not accepted

Flew LAS - ATL / ATL - LAS starting on the 10th of this month and arrived home today. Went to the TSA Pre line and was rejected both times. Have a NEXUS card and Delta was given the redress number at the time of booking.

Needless to say that in the future I won't bother with Pre as they seem not to accept trusted travelers.

To update: In the original post, I wrote that my Nexus number was in the redress space, checking back at my Delta Airlines profile, my Nexus card number was in fact in the trusted traveler space. So, still getting shafted by the TSA.

You need to enter your Nexus number in the "Known Traveler Number" field, not the "Redress Number" field on the Delta website.

You can not chose that line. The TSO has to direct you there if your boarding pass says so. And the boarding pass is marked based on too many things.
This http://www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/faqs.shtm answers pretty much all your questions.

The Pre-Check isn't a guarantee -- it's still a random process. You can apply for it, and every once in a while, you'll get it. Since I've been enrolled, I've gotten to ride the pre-check line twice in about 7 tries.

It's kinda like winning the lottery

Needless to say that on future flights, as a Nexus card - trusted travele holder I won't bother to deal with Pre Check. It seems to be reserved for the 1%, TT Card or not.

Totally ridiculous. It should be 100%, with some occasional (10%) random additional screening thrown in (such as a swab). Otherwise it's just another useless POS courtesy of the TSA.

?? I'm confused.

I thought you got 'TT' either through responding to an invite from the airline (frequent traveller + who knows what other criteria) or by having GE, which is not the same thing as NEXUS.

You can qualify for PreCheck either with an invite or by being a Trusted Traveler program member. GE and NEXUS are both TT programs.

Help me out folks a bit. In DTW, you go with the Delta priority lane (or regular lane) at the Pre-Check Point. If your pass beeps at the TSA desk, you can go with the Pre line on the other side of the doc inspector.

In Vegas, there was a dedicated line for Pre customers. If it is random selection, how do you know to go there. DO you have to stand in the regular line just to go there. Why not let you know that your Pre and if you are randomly selected for regular divert you back to the regular inspection on the far side of the doc inspector?

I haven't been to LAS recently so I cannot be sure, but my understanding is that if you know you are PreCheck eligible you should stand in the PreCheck line. Once you reach the TDC and are scanned, you will either be directed to the PreCheck screening line or the regular screening line.

You have to Opt In via the participating Airline with certain qualifications. You can use your GE or NEXUS card to Opt In.

Flying on aa out of LAS 3 times, I went through the pre-check line, ditto for jfk domestic 2 for 2; on 2 intl flts out of jfk no pre-check--but from various postings here intl flts don't qualify.
Shortly before pre-check was set up at jfl, when they scanned my bp, I heard the pre-check beeps--so I would have been able to use pre-check if it were in operation.

This must have been when TSA was practicing for PreCheck. I've seen this routine at other airports just before they implement Pre.
