^ Perhaps it's a revival of the early 1900s fears of exploding celluloid collars such as described here and here.

Arrrrh, the human imagination - especially with the Thousands Standing Around circus of clowns at the checkpoints in the anti-terror "war" on American soil ....

I had an idea for our infrequent family friends flying oversea out of JFK late tonight - wear those "cute" hospital/clinic style exam gowns over a warmup suit.

No pins, no belts, no buttons, just 1 or 2 pair of strings to keep them tie closed - and if the blue shirts insist on a pat down, "drop" it quick and "show" them with a 360 spin but tell them, no touchie ....

Seriously, however, I can foreseen the days ahead where we will ONLY be permitted to fly and/or travel in masses wearing literally next to nothing so that the would-be "terrorists" can be easily spotted

Maybe with Kenny Chesney as their celebrity spokesman...

Hmm, I wear a shirt with a button-down collar regularly and I've never had an issue.

What terminal at IAH was this?

They're not looking for WEI, they're looking for drugs. We've seen this over and over.
They've given up looking for something they'll never find and turned to something they'll find every once in a while. It's the only way they can justify their funding.

Your first mistake was entering the NoS. Always always always opt-out.
