DFW Terminal D security hole

Just some thoughts. I went through DFW Terminal D yesterday, I am a smoker and had a two hour layover so I went outside for a smoke then went back through security to get airside again.

But as far as I can tell, going back through security wasn't necessary as there is a huge hole in the process.

To get to baggage reclaim, one goes through a set of revolving doors and down an escalator. From baggage claim you just walk out the main doors and you are at the taxi rank.

Doing this in reverse, it is also possible for members of the public to walk straight into baggage claim (and steal passengers bags if they wish) then one would simply walk up the staircase to the left of the escalators, through the same revolving doors and voila! one is airside without having gone through any security whatsoever.

I didn't see a single official in the baggage hall or manning the entrance back into the terminal.

the return side of the revolving door has a pressure sensor. the door will stop if you try that. if they were smart about it, they'd stop it while you were fully trapped inside, but i've never seen it tried..

There is also a real live human sitting at the little desk in the middle of the two revolving doors.

I'd put my money on the pressure sensor

You sure it wasn't a safety mannequin dressed in a blue shirt? I understand the difficulty in telling the two apart.

I have to concede there was very momentarily an old lady "manning" the doors whilst knitting and chatting to someone else. I think she wouldn't have noticed had the whole USA ladies' soccer squad walked through there.

Seriously she was ancient, I'd guess from the Jurassic period

I suggest you attempt to go through that revolving door the wrong way; let us know how it goes for you. Prediction: the door will stop and reverse.

Believe it or not, the world is not as dumb as you think it is.

Not the entire world, just a few segments of it. Particularly those who wear french blue shirts and think that foil wrapped chocolate badges and five minutes of training give them some power over others and ability to read minds.
