Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.2; en-us; Droid Build/FRG83G) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Flew out of RDU Terminal 2 this morning. Took the left-most lane, was able to self-direct opt out.

On the other side of the WTMD, the conveyor belt just kept going, and all the stuff on the belt coming out of the x-ray machine was crashing into everyone else's stuff. My shoe fell off the belt, and the bin with my computer almost got knocked off. I look back to see the TSO operating the x-ray was LITERALLY ASLEEP AT THE MACHINE, WITH HIS HAND ON THE BUTTON FOR THE BELT!

The noise from a stroller crashing to the ground jarred him awake, at which point he came over to see what all the commotion was about.

I looked around to see if there was a STSO to report the guy, but didn't see one so I just headed to my gate.

Would be great to get him into trouble, but with how the TSA works, they would punish all the passengers with a terminal dump.

You would probably be detained and they would gather all your info.

To me, what would I care. I am not on their payroll.

You should ask for the tapes from your visit (claim something is missing, I don't know) on the small chance that you could get documentation of this! I would almost pay money to see a picture of a clerk snoozing. I already have evidence of one texting on the job at BOS.

And no planes have fallen out of the sky!!!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!

Cue Blogdad Bob for his next post - TSA Security Theatre is so effective, mere presence of a TSO, awake or asleep, deters the terrywrists.....

Tell someone after your plane lands. That way it's too late for a dump but the security tapes will still show it.

That will almost be $10.00, and I almost thank you very much.

Yes. he could get terminations from his jobs or he will receiving a weeks suspensions from the jobs. He can't do it to sleep on the jobs. It's not allowed to sleeping on the jobs at airports. He should know better!

Did they got security breach and they forced evacuations off the checkpoints?

None of those are of a TSO asleep while actually standing in front of a monitor, supposed to be doing his/her job at the time.

As mentioned above, you probably did the right thing by not reporting it, no point in having to deal with a terminal dump if you don't have to.

But will it happen?

As described by the OP, what would happen if the OP yelled "wake up" or "he's asleep" and a supervisor was called over. Would the TSO who was sleeping on the job actually be terminated (on the spot or later on)? With all due respect and regardless of policy but based on the TSA's overall reluctance to terminate but instead re-train, I say it won't happen.

I kind of feel sorry for the old fella in the third picture. He's as old as dirt and probably working just to pay his Blue Cross. At his age, just to be able to get a job is something else. He may be half senile and thinking he's doing a great service for his country.

So...Did he get firing from TSA? He can't be sleeping on the jobs during work hours.
