In April 2020 Chase criteria for approving BUSINESS card applications became more stringent. All Chase INK products are business cards. Chase also issues co-branded business cards for United Airlines (2 different biz cards), Southwest Airlines (2 different biz cards), Hyatt and IHG.

For general information about applying for Chase cards, including explanation of the unpublished 5/24 rule, please review the Wikipost of the PERSONAL card thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...ds-2023-a.html

Anyone can apply for a business card as a sole proprietor. If your business has a registered company name, which Chase can verify, you may use that name to apply. Otherwise, use only your legal First and Last name as the business name. Do not add any extra words, do not use a made up name. If Chase cannot verify the name the application will fail.

Useful Chase telephone numbers
(888) 269-8690 - Business Credit Card Application Status Line, automated
(800) 453-9719 Business Credit Card Reconsideration Line with live rep
(800) 453-9719 Credit Reallocation Office (Business cards)
(888) 622-7547 Executive Offices

Twitter: @ChaseSupport

Note: The automated Status Line often shows no record of business card applications. This does NOT mean that there is a problem with your application. You will need to contact Chase to learn the status, or wait for Chase to contact you.

You can use a single Username on chase.com to manage both Business and Personal card accounts, but you will initially need to set them up separately, and then telephonically ask customer service to combine them by merging the Personal account into the Business account. It cannot be done the other way. Once personal account is merged to business account, if all business cards are closed while keeping one (or more) personal cards open, online access to all cards will terminate and a new personal (online) account will need to be created using a different username than previous personal account.

Update: It is possible now to link Business and Personal accounts online. First set them up separately, then log into the Business account and follow this click path: Icon at the top right that looks like a person -> Profile & Settings -> Account Settings -> Manage Linked Accounts. Then look for the "Link relationship" option for the personal accounts. For more information on linking accounts: How to link Chase personal and business accounts?

A good rule of thumb is a week or two, but people have reported successfully opening a new card in a few as 3 days.

CIC better fit for me, with 5x on wireless/internet and office-supplies categories while meeting the min spend.

The assumptions I am trying to confirm are
a) will they allow a product change right after opening and
b) will the signup bonus offer still be applicable.

I guess you reach the $25k limit on your other CICs that you want yet another one.

Honestly, I wonder if anyone has ever tried doing what you're attempting to do. Somehow I don't see it. If I were you , I would meet the SUB spend on CIU (which you need to do within 3 months anyway) as soon as possible, wait until that posts and then attempt to product change. 3 months is not that long at all to hold out to change to CIC if they'll allow it and you're still assured of getting the SUB this way.

I applied for the Sapphire Reserve for Business and it went to pending, then later denied for too much consumer credit and low usage of Chase credit lines. I called reconsideration and they didn't even bother to review it - only asked me if there was new information I had to share and said it was already reviewed by an underwriter.

Is this how recon works now?

Sometimes. My advice, HUCA. I went through this type of @#*$^ on a CSP in June, applied, deferral, denial e-mail, called because no PM sent, CSR said they can't review because the letter isn't there. Call next day, CSR says it is under review. Can I speak to recon? No. Another letter shows up about suspicious activity, I call, put me through to Fraud, approved after I said I applied, no other questions asked.

Can't transfer points on wife's account online, she calls, asks to authorize me to speak on her behalf, CSR wants all info on me and to call with a code (for the third time), give my cell phone, she says there is an issue and fraud department will call within 24 hours. No call, call back, CSR is happy to authorize me to close an account, move credit line, move points from two cards to a third and then transfer hundreds of thousands of points to UA without anything more than wife asking if I can explain what we want.

It means exactly what it says - that they're reviewing your application. So you can either wait and a how this plays out or you can give them a call and see if there is any additional info they need from you or to move credit from another card in order to get the application pushed through and approved.

DP: Business Card closed 1 week before reapplying

I waited one week, reapplied, denied/reconsidered/approved. No message about having previous card.

Congratulations.

This thread is the “Applying for Chase BUSINESS Cards (2025-)” thread. “CSR” often refers to personal CSR. Should the quote above be “… from Ink biz to the new biz CSR.”? Thank you.

Hello - I have a ink Unlimited card that i have had since 2018 (use it constantly), have not applied for any others but want to start doing so (from everything i have read safe bet is to apply every 6 months and you can open 2 of the same cards?). Should i leave this card open before applying for a 2nd one or close it?

I am not sure if there is such a thing as business history since it is not recommended to close long standing personal cards which could impact length of credit, not sure if it works the same on business side?

In my interpretation is the current offer for the Unlimited and Cash yield the same amount of UR points except unlimited you have to meet the spend in 3 months vs 6 for cash? thanks. .

Hard to say. I dont think closing a biz card will hurt your score as it doesnt affect your personal score (and that is the report that is pulled). In fact some data point suggest closing helps because Chase looks at your overall biz credit line when deciding on new cards.

OTOH there are some data points that suggest Chase will reject if you have recently closed a biz account as they view that as churning. Also Chase has been cracking down on multiple Ink cards (though 2 is not typically viewed as excessive)

Considering the above maybe close the existing Ink a couple of months before opening a new one.

"Constantly" indicates regular use of the card -- which Chase will likely look upon favorably -- but doesn't indicate how much you are spending on the card, and how that relates to your existing credit line. If you use it daily to buy a coffee but have a $30,000 credit line that goes largely untouched, that may not be appealing to Chase.

I don't wish to be argumentative, but I don't understand your recommendation based on the datapoints that you yourself cite -- can you elaborate on your logic? My thought would be to keep the existing card open when applying for a new one because (1) it looks less like potential churning and (2) as noted, two is not considered to be an excessive number of Ink cards from Chase. My advice might be different if the OP's spending in relation to their existing credit line is either extremely low or extremely high.

Edited to add: amindu , have you checked your Chase account to see if you might already be pre-approved for another business card? There is some discussion of this upthread. Click on the "Business Credit Cards" (or similar wording) on the main menu after you have signed in.
