If you have a history of paying this card, and other Chase cards, on time it can help to point to that as evidence of your good intent. Bear in mind that the $39 may be only the beginning, because the late payment may also trigger finance charges (interest).

It's been many years but the one time we missed a payment they did foregive all charges.so a phone call wouldn't hurt.

I would definitely pay the entire balance now to avoid any interest fees due to the late payment. That said I think ink business cash has a promo 0% apr so if you have it then maybe you’ll have zero interest. Gl gl

Several excellent replies. Agree with calling and asking (groveling, begging, whatever it takes). All issuers are MUCH more likely to waive/refund/credit late fees than finance charges.
I’m very rarely in the same situation. Last time was due to having opened 2 identical Citi Hilton cards within a few days 8 or 10 years ago and confusing statement and due dates. Saw a pricy late fee and finance charges. Called Citi, pleaded my case, had all fees and charges waived and refunded/credited back. It is possible.
