I do. I'm not worried about them trying to 'pay' me back, I'm more worried about how they can accumulate the miles.
The only reason I prefer UA miles is that is what I used to purchase tickets for them (two 70k United business class seats). I think the cash price for them was about $11k--I wouldn't want them to pay that price to me. I would be willing to accept about $10k in hotel points/rooms but I was thinking that it might be easier to get paid back in UA miles....maybe not.

Make them to sign multiple cards, earn the sign up bonuses then figure out how to get the "worth" of your UA miles back (they can book you the award tickets of the same mileage cost, it is NOT against the rules.)
Barring that, doubt they could spend enough to earn that amount at the rate of spend you claim in a decade...lol.

Depends on the hotel program. Marriott says:

Awards are valid only for use by the individual designated on the Award and are not transferable, although, if requested at the time of issuance, an Award may be issued to a third party.

No. I've booked stays with my points and then added Joe Blow as the person who would ck. in. This may not work with all programs though. You're doing a lot of speculating. Talk to the person who owes you points/miles and work out a plan after reading the T&C of that program.

No that's when you "call" and asked to book an award reservation. You can tell them, it is not for me, it is for my good friend, John Smith. I have booked award reservations for others with Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt. You can't do it online, you have to call. If you want to do it online, there is a way by adding the person as a 2nd guest in the room with you, but that doesn't always work. On check in the hotel could ask for the primary guest to show ID.. then you are kind of screwed.
