CSR: fee when adding authorized user mid-year?

My CSR annual fee posts in April. I'm now thinking of adding an authorized user to the account. Does anyone know how that additional fee works when adding a user mid-year? Is it immediately pro-rated to sync with the card annual fee? Or would that full auth. user fee post each year in Sep/Oct while the card fee posts in April?

Mid-year addition of AU usually doesnt trigger a fee and will be combined as a $525 AF fee on your anniversary.

Just last month I considered adding an AU, and since my annual fee is in February I had the exact same question as OP. I asked Chase about this using their secure messaging. Their answer:

I'll be happy to address your follow-up inquiry about the
annual fee for each Authorized User.

CaptainMiles, the first $75.00 annual fee will automatically be
applied within one to two billing cycles once you add an
Authorized User. Going forward, the $75 annual fee will
be applied along with your $450 annual which is February 1
(Anniversary Date) of each year.

We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing
Chase.

Thank you,
Navin

This was not my experience. Mid year addition did not attract a fee until the anniversary date. As always, YMMV.

Same experience here, with 8 months left in the year I wasn't charged for adding an AU. At the anniversary, I was charged $450 and $75 in separate transactions on the same day.

I wonder how far into the year you need to be. Were you in your first year of having the card or a subsequent year? Just wondering because my SO just received his CSR and I'm toying with the idea of having him add me. Although I guess it would count toward my 5/24 so there's that.

I know this is an older thread, but don't see a newer one so thought I might try and get an answer here....

I typically get billed the CSR annual fee in October, but want to add my spouse as an AU shortly. Can anyone confirm recent experience is the same as above, where the AU fee is not charged mid-year, but only at the same time as the main $550 fee? Sounds like above, it's a separate line item (ie, as separate $550 and $75 line items, as opposed to a $625 line item)? And if above is still correct, can anyone confirm whether they will add a pro-rated fee for the time the AU card is issued until the full year fee is charged?

Hey there - did you end up adding AU mid-year? If you did, can you please share your experience with how the AU fee was treated? Thanks!

I can share DP from last year.

I added wife as an AU on my account in 2025 - sometime shortly after MLL access was noted to officially include a guest as this works out very well for our family (primarily UA/*A flyers who are SFO-based and travel to Canada 2-3 times/year). I think sometime in summer, maybe late spring 2025. My AF bills Oct. 1. Did not know they didnt typically bill immediately, so was initially surprised not to see an initial charge, until I came here. But per the reports here, only billed [separate charge] on Oct. 1 alongside my normal renewal. Nice surprise to not have it until then.

obviously, the fee has climbed now, but still probably worth it for the lounge access alone for our family.

Thanks for your quick response! So it only gets billed when the primary AF gets billed correct? I wonder what happens if you choose to not have an AU at renewal time due to increase in fees..? Also, do you happen to know how quickly the AU becomes eligible for PP after adding?
