This is the NEW Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier card. It replaced the old IHG Rewards Club Select card in 2018. Existing card members were not automatically product changed to the new card. Among the many changes, the AF jumped from $49 to $89 per year.

IHG forum thread about the new cards (and grandfathered old card for those have it already):

For discussion prior to April 2018, see this archived thread.

Q. Where can I learn more about the annual free-night certificate associated with this card? How long are the certificates good for? Are the certificates revoked if you cancel your Chase card?

A. See Annual Free Night Cert from IHG (Rewards Club) Visa / Mastercard.

Q. Once I meet the spending requirement, how soon will I receive my bonus points?

A. Bonus points typically accrue at the close of the billing period in which you incur the corresponding charges. Points should appear in your IHG account within a few days thereafter.

NOTE: If you complete your required spending in the last 7-10 days of the statement period, the bonus may not post until the following month's statement, even if the regular per-dollar points post on the first statement. This is normal behavior for Chase and is not worth a phone call.

Q. Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?

A. For answers to these and other questions, see the wiki and related discussion in the master discussion thread https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase-ultimate-rewards/2016194-applying-chase-business-cards-april-2020-onward.html

Q. Will the signup bonus count toward Spire Elite status?

A. No.

But the $125k offer had the higher spending earning rate for 12 months, and this one doesn't have as high on the spend - correct? I also did the $125k application right before it ended, and racking up a lot of points monthly.

Good catch; I overlooked that difference! Now I don't feel bad about "missing" the 140k offer. The 125k bonus plus its 25x/4x/4x points on spending for the first 12 months can easily outearn the 140k bonus with its 10x/2x/1x earning structure. A quick calculation shows that with $4k spend on mixture of IHG stays and non-bonus categories spend I'm already past break-even. That's in just 3 months; I've got 9 more months of increased bonuses remaining.

With the 4th night free offer from this card for reward nights... would you get this on rewards where you don't make the stay free? That is, IHG offers levels where you can pay some cash and some points. Say we choose one of the lower options... do we still get 4th night free? Or are we required to choose the points only option to get this benefit?

That is my understanding. In more detail, my understanding is that if you reserve two nights on all points and one night on any level of points plus cash or cash only (in any order), you have given up the free fourth night.

My latest statement once again included charges made at the front desk at IC Singapore that didn't code properly as IHG spend. This happens at least once a month and I'm getting f'in sick and tired having to contact Chase all the damn time for correction.

Is it this difficult to properly code a hotel that has been there for years??

Any DP's if Chase is offering this card as metal currently? I ordered a replacement card and it came as plastic today. Going on-line, there are a number of articles listing this as metal for 2020.

TIA!

What was the 4x4x?
I know the 10x is on IHG stays. But the old card with 125k bonus had 4x on what? gas grocery restaurant?

I am stuck between applying to this one vs Hyatt. I don’t typically stay more than 5-6 nights or so in random hotels per year so have no preferences unless you recommend this over Hyatt. The redemption value of IHG card is not great, how many nights on average you need for example for stay bridge suites? I remember I was super impressed with the one I tried in Atlanta close to the airport, 3 years ago.

4x/4x is a bonus on everything other than IHG spend. After the first year it drops to 3x/2x -- 3x gas, grocery, and restaurants, 2x on the rest.

Oh. I was not aware that there was that difference on the 140k card vs the 125k. Thanks.

Well...this was a first. Just applied for the card to make some medical payments. I submitted my application and for the first time they asked me a follow up question on if I had any other sources of income besides what I put down as my gross. I said no, and then it said that they would need more time to review my request a little longer. They have no number for me to call to inquire about what is going on, I wonder if I need to reduce the credit line on some of my other CCs. I have a lot of Chase ones, but only use 3 others right now, so I can reduce my other ones to the bare minimum if that helps. Does anyone know if a number to call to find out what is going on/get it resolved?
