So I applied for the Ink Plus about a week ago, and received a letter today saying I'd been denied for "too many open accounts or recent requests with us" or something along those lines. I applied for the United Mileageplus Explorer cards (both business and personal) in early March, was approved on the business and never heard back on the personal. Applied again for the personal about 3 weeks ago and was auto-approved. I also have two very old Chase cards with no rewards programs that I only keep for credit history purposes.
I called reconsideration and got was told no again, after what felt like a Spanish Inquisition and about 10 minutes of waiting. In fairness, my only business is an ebay account I barely use, and while I exaggerated my intentions to turn it into a real source of revenue a little on the phone, I probably didn't do so enough. I also made the mistake of saying I'd only been serious about using the account for the past few months, so I think they switched the "time in business" to that instead of 6 years, which is the date from my first sale on the account.
Anyway, I asked about switching credit from the Mileageplus card and they said that while they usually offer that option, they don't do so for "new businesses" which are 5 years or younger. I was told they would watch my spending on that line and that I should call back when I felt I'd established a "suitable spending pattern." They also said they would note that they'd spoken with me and I would get another letter.
So my question is, what should I do from here to get the card? Call again? Wait 6 months and reapply? Use the Mileageplus card as much as possible? Cancel it? I've spent a considerable amount of time planning out how to use the 5x points at office supply stores while minimizing or cancelling out fees for MS purposes, so I'd like to get it as soon as possible.
Thanks to anyone who stuck with that post long enough to offer any advice!

I opened a new biz last august. 2-3 months before that, I had to apply for biz loan, equipment loan, etc and it took its toll on credit. I managed to get an ink bold and amex biz gold. Around december, applied for ink plus and citi aa biz mc. Was rejected by both. Applied again 4/2015 for citi aa biz and united mp biz and approved.
I recommend u try in 6 months.

The automatic line said it was pending review and I got the letter saying it was denied about a week later. It sounds like what happened to you is the same as my personal Mileageplus Explorer card. I never heard anything after being initially told it was pending and when I reapplied a month later it was approved.
