Applying for 2 Cards with 1 Inquiry?

Hi everyone, I tried to post this question in the "Applying for Chase Cards [Consolidated]" thread, but it appears that thread doesn't get much action so I'm trying my luck as a standalone thread now.

Does anyone know if it's possible and/or a good idea to apply for a "higher/premium" card, and if denied, then try to shoot for a lower version during that same recon call? Does it work that way, or do you absolutely have to take 2 different applications/pulls?

For example, try to apply for a Chase Ink Plus, and if rejected, ask for an Ink Cash during the reconsideration call instead?

After recently filing my taxes, I realized that I really, really need a better way to manage and organize my business expenses, so just getting least one of the Chase business cards is my #1 priority for that reason. I do have a legitimate side business, but it only returned about $4000 last year so the Ink Plus might be a bit of a stretch to ask for. Sure the Ink Plus would be nice, but the extra sign up bonus/benefits aren't important enough for me to jeopardize my chances if I'm only allowed to apply for 1 card at a time. Financial organization is really my primary goal here, but if there's a chance to kill two birds with one stone, I'd gladly try it. Does anyone know if it's possible to apply for a higher card, and then try and "settle" for a lower card in one application?

Thanks!
