Next Steps after CSP

Hey guys,

Newbie here, last fall I signed up for CSP for the bonus and it is really the only CC I have besides a Capital One card that I haven't used in ages.

I'm getting ready to move my regular checking/savings account to Chase (which actually now comes with a cash bonus). I'm thinking that my best bet is to eat the $95 fee this year for CSP, sign up for United Mileage Plus Explorer around the same time as the banking move to get 50K bonus miles, and maybe sign up for Freedom as well just to get that $100 cashback.

Then in 3 months or so after doing some more reading I can do a few more cards, same in 6 months, and then by that point I'll know where I want to transfer my Freedom and CSP points.

My other option is to switch banks, move CSP points to United after getting United Mileage Plus Explorer, then canceling CSP. But I still haven't really figured out all the pros/cons of the different programs and have yet to decide where I'm traveling next year so $95 to keep that flexibility isn't a bad choice.

If you have any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks.

IMHO, much better to apply for Chase INK biz card (surely you have or are intending to start some sort of little biz?) to keep Ultimate Reward Points account active, get 50K bonus--and avoid the annual fee on the Sapphire Preferred.

Of course UAL card is good too and you can get that as well as an INK card.

Thought about that but to be honest I was hard pressed to spend the 3K in 3 months for CSP (ended up buying gift cards, paying stuff in advance, etc) and I ran across some threads on here about people getting banned for putting personal expenses on the card so it didn't sound like the greatest idea.

Freedom cannot transfer UR to airlines. You need a card with an annual fee (AF).
