Chase and MS.

So I have a question and hope this is the right place to post it.

I'm just getting started with opening Chase cards. My wife and I both have the Freedom, which we've had for a long time. She just got the Ink when the 60k bonus. My question is, would it be safe to MS the minimum spend if I plan on applying for more Chase cards in the future? I want to get a CSP for both of us, and then probably the Hyatt or Marriott cards.

The reason I ask, is because I've read that when making recon calls, they've called people out for MS'ing.

Thanks!

I don't know how to answer this question. Nobody knows for sure. Do what you feel comfortable with, knowing there's a risk.

I would just add in, think of it from there point of view. If they catch on that your only doing it for points, thell be pissed. If they think your gonna spend, then youll be good.
Keep that in mind whenever you do something with credit cards, and you should be good.

Yeah, that's understandable. Just wondering what other's experience has been like. I'm thinking of just sprinkling in some MS just to help with the minimum spend and just use this for my everyday spending until it's reached.

From what I've read, occasional MS is not bad. I would also like to hear others' experience with MS and Ink.

I just got the Ink Bold and did $5k in MS at Staples to get the 60k bonus. Since then I've spent another $3k in MS at Staples. I'd LOVE to do $5k-10k per month at Staples but I have a feeling that's a recipe for getting shutdown. Any thoughts from those who have been Inking and Stapling for a while?

The limit for 5x is 50K spend per year. So have fun doing 5-10K per month I'm sure they will love you, especially if you do $10K.

Haha good to know. $10k, and even $5k, is a bit overzealous.

What cards have you been buying at Staples? The Staples near me only have the $200 GC

That's what I've been buying. $1k in cards at Staples, taken the same day over to Walmart to add the 5 cards to BB. It's not the most efficient system but on Ink you're more than making up for the fees. That's why it's so attractive to me.

I'd like to continue doing this, although not $5k per month, in order to generate UR points. But obviously I don't want to get my Ink card shutdown. I'm curious to hear at what dollar amount of MS people can get away with on Ink. I'm thinking I'll cut it way back down to ~$600 per month plus other purchases, just to be safe.

The only spend I put on my CSP in order to get the sign-up bonus was thru AP while it was still alive back in the summer. It just happened that our vacation was coming up and I paid for the motels along the road with the CSP too to add some juice to the UR. But that was after my min. spend was long sacked

I do about $3000/month at office supply stores (almost all MS). I've been doing that level for over a year and I've been fine. I also do about $5k in non-bonused spend, mostly MS.

Sprinkling in some ordinary spend... a tank of gas, a few fast food places and you should be fine
I have 2 Inks, for 2 legitimate businesses, MS'd on both and never had an issue
