Chase points to AS miles?

Any way I can use Chase points to book a ASA flight? Thought I read somewhere about transferring to BA but wasn't able to pull up a res using their site. I opened a CSP card last month and have 10k points plus the bonus but not sure if I can use them towards a AS flight or if I should just save them.

You can convert your Chase UR points to BA Avios, which can in turn be used on Alaskan Airways. I use Avios points all the time to book Alaska flights. The only problem is you can't search or book Alaska flights online at the BA website. You have to call the U.S. British Airways call center to book or search for the tickets. Usually they will waive the phone booking fee since it is impossible to book online.

The easiest way to search for availability is to actually search on American Airlines. Anything that is available at AA MileSAAver award level will be eligible for booking. If you try to search on Alaska it becomes a mess due to BA isn't allowed access to all of the flights Alaska makes available to it's own members. BA can however book anything that shows up as eligible MileSAAver on the AA website. Simply search on AA's website and give the flight specifics to the CSR at BA when you call in.

Depending on where you are flying to, it may take more miles (Avios) than AS miles, as the number of Avios required is based on the distance flown. OTOH, it could take less if it is a short flight.

RT from my location to Boston or Honolulu is typically 20 or 27.5k miles OW on the Alaska site. I will check on the AA site, I was at the BA site trying to figure out how you guys were seeing the flights. Thanks

I live in Anchorage and use BA Avios on AS semi-frequently.

One big difference between AS mile and BA Avios is that BA charges per segment. So if there isn't a direct flight its probably not worth it.

To use BA avios on AS there need to be a super saver award available. For instance from ANC to HNL, AS charges 20k OW for super saver. It would only be 12.5k OW using BA avios if you can book a direct flight.

Say you live in Fairbanks. You would have to spend 4.5k avios for FAI to ANC, then 12.5k ANC to HNL. That would be 17k OW which is still less miles than using AS.

Be aware BA does not price the same as either AA or AS.

BA is a DISTANCE-based system by segments. It use Distance Band not the actual distance. So if a segment just go over a few miles of the lower band it would be priced at the higher band's price.

You need to learn more on how BA AVios work to figure out if it is worth it to transfer your UR pts to BA avios because the transfer is one-direction, cannot be reversed.

This is NOT fool-proof because it does not include all the possible routings between 2 City pairs - it is up to YOU Yourself to make sure that, but can be a start:
