Quick Question Regarding Chase Sapphire Preferred
This isn't for the business one since I am not a business owner or anything like that.
Is the 40,000 bonus points sign up (if you spend $3,000 in 3 months) with the annual fee waived for the first year, a typical offer? Not sure if I should wait for a better offer (if some come along), or apply for this one. Not in a hurry.
Thanks

40K is the best generally available offer now. There might be occasional better targeted offers, but I don't think too many. The offer was 50K early last year, then went down to 40K.

There have been reports here on FT that if one applies for the CSP card inside a Chase branch, then the spend requirement is only $2,000, but the bonus is still only 40,000 points.

Correct, in addition to it being $2,000 spend requirement, you also have more days, on the spend requirement. I think the customer service rep said there's 105 days.
In addition to all that, if you hit certain requirements with Chase you are eligible for 70,000 bonus. I confirmed with 3 people from Chase. 2 bankers and the customer service rep that activated my card. Everyone seems to not know the details except it "just shows up." From what I understand, the customer needs to be a high net worth individual and most likely a "Chase Private Client" customer...
