Call from Chase after application?
My husband applied for a SWA Visa from an email, not realizing it was probably not a churnable card for him yet. (He cancelled a SWA card 18 months ago.) He has a high credit score, and three other Chase cards. He uses his Sapphire card regularly, and the other two every other month or so. His last application with Chase was more than 3 months ago.
Today, Chase left a voicemail asking him to call them. Any idea why? It shouldn't be to shift his credit limits around, since he probably isn't eligible for the offer. We thought he would just get a reject letter in the mail.(?)

At 18 months there's a chance he could be ok. Also, the specific "versions" of the WN cards have changed over time, so perhaps the system won't see him as a previous cardholder for this particular version of the card. Who knows?

IMHO, OP, you may be better off just getting the card and seeing what happens.
They probably have already pulled the credit report so there is really no downside. And, probably, you'll get the bonus.
This is one of those: "Don't discuss it with the rep" situations. Just call back and rearrange credit limits and keep quiet about previous cards--doubt that Chase cares anyhow.

I just recently applied for another Chase card while having 4 active cards. Chase called to readjust credit lines in order to approve the new card. That was helpful, as about a year ago they simply rejected an additional card and I had to call them to readjust the lines and get the card.
