This may be old news but the last two times I applied for personal cards from Chase (second half of 2011, a few months apart) they pulled both my Equifax and Experian reports at the same time. I've asked them since then if I can expect this double pull with each application now and they just point me to the fine print that says somewhere they can use information from one or more credit report to make their decision. Both apps were approved, first instant, second after recon.
Anyone else getting doubled up by Chase lately? I thought CapitalOne was the bad guy that did this (including Transunion too, I believe).

They have been pulling EQ and EX for me as well. Sometimes they have even pulled EQ and TU. I don't really care about TU as Barclays seems to be the only lender (at least for me) which uses it in TN.

Just a guess - it could be if they have any inclination that you are applying for multiple cards, they want to hit 2 credit reports to look for excessive inquiries.
I've seen some reports that the computer pulls one and then if it goes to manual review they might pull another from a different bureau.

In April '11 for the BA card they pulled Ex and Eq. In July '11 for the Sapphire Preferred they pulled both again. In Nov '11 for the Ink Bold they pulled all three for me. Admittedly, I had never had a business card in my life up to that point so I'm sure that is why they pulled the third bureau for that card.

My experience with Chase living in WI:
Freedom Card - 3 yrs ago (EQ only)
Continental card - 2 yrs ago (both EQ and EX)
United Select - 1 yr ago (pulled both EQ and EX)
Sapphire Preferred - 6 mos ago (EQ only)
Priority Club - 1 mo ago - approved instantly (EQ only)
I would agree with the theory that the second pull is when it goes to a manual review. I do remember the Continental and United cards taking longer to get approved. I had to call reconsideration to get the Continental card approved.
