Lisa Ch'ng, the pen, the Cabin Crew List and HX's promo

Sequence of events:
  1. Lisa Ch'ng (莊思明) is a TVB actress and was a 2010 Miss Hong Kong second runner-up https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%8E...80%9D%E6%98%8E
  2. She was travelling to BKK for a friend's wedding in CX Y on CX619 8Jan
  3. Per her account https://m.weibo.cn/1737482793/4458511498691414, she pressed the crew button three times for a pen to fill in immigration form, only for the light to be switched off. On the third time the light went off, she turned back and noticed a FA switched it off
  4. She rang the crew button a fourth time, was attended to by another FA who brought her a pen, and raised a complaint with the FA's superior. In her Weibo post she asserted she does not want this disservice to happen to any other passenger
  5. After landing she somehow obtains the entire Cabin Crew List for CX619 from insider and posts it on her Instagram unredacted (a redacted copy appears below)
  6. HK netizens claim she broke privacy laws in doing that. Ch'ng claims she has received legal advice she did not https://hk.entertainment.appledaily....00109/60465645
  7. This is the kicker: HX runs a FB promotion today with branded pens as the prize. Apparently you have to tag someone you want to receive the pen and leaving a comment saying so. Now I'm not sure if the timing is coincidental, but HX certainly appears to have taken advantage (抽水) on Ch'ng's situation. She's been tagged to smithereens.

This is the most disturbing of all - the rest is just gossip. Who was the insider who obtained it - surely sharing it with a non-CX employee is illegal. And the fact that she shared it - knowing that this is CX confidential information (remember ignorance of the law does not hold up well in court) - means she has likely violated privacy laws.

I expect Stephen Wong, the decently proactive and useful privacy commission head in HK, will look into this matter.

Regardless of whether she broke the law by sharing the list, it’s the wrong thing to do. You don’t do it just because you can.

The tag wasn't appropriate in Canto, agreed

Would've been laughed at for self-deprecation if not for the incident yesterday.

I wonder who approve this ad/post.
Definitely their main target audience is HK resident who speaks Cantonese and keep in touch with those latest gossip,
seem they didn't aware their hashtag can mean 'HX didn't understand your need' if you read in Cantonese lol

Or it could mean "end" (畢, as in graduation) - HX presaging its own demise.

As a youngster netizen, 不了 (inside HX hashtag: 筆了, same pronunciation ) is commonly used everywhere. That’s why it pops up to my mind at first sight

I've never heard of her, but if she publishes the staff list for a flight publicly, whether obtained legally or not, she ought not to be allowed back on the airline in my opinion.
Ringing a call button thrice for a pen sounds like rather inconsiderate behaviour, to boot. Carry one with you dear.

I thought that only happens to Social Media Influencers who deceive the airline.

I don't think even Brian Chin got no-fly https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cath...l#post15626466

A staff list is proprietary commercial information. I think the staff also deserve privacy for their rota outside their company. I don't know Cathay's policy, but if it was my company I'd politely decline her future business.
