Yes, indeed, that's what I do on LH routes.

Unfortunately: ".... business class fliers will get a thin mattress topper pad ...".
El Cheapo, please do this the right way, like MH, if needed, charge me $1 for that.......

"... business class fliers will get .... slippers .....", OK, great, something I appreciate from BR, above the CX socks.

"Rivals have or are planning ..... book-the-cook .....": An ISM told me, CX is working on this too, introduction not known, though something like "end of this year (2019)", though it seems to not have made it, for now
Why would they feel the need to put "thin" in front of "mattress topper pad".... there's no positive impact from adding that descriptor (I wonder what the marketing/PR team were thinking lol).
To me, mattress pad is a welcome addition as using an extra duvet often made it too hot. Slippers I can get quite easily from CX lounge, I might rather get PJs.

All these airline giveaway items are usually 1/10th as good as what you could buy and bring and not pollute the world more for the sake of saying one deserves it.

@silveChris - I try to bring as much as I can on the flight so that I don't have to waste more single-use items and contribute to more rubbish in landfills. I bring my own slippers on long-haul flights, and my own coffee mug when I fly Y - I hate it that there is already so much plastic on the food trays which get thrown out!

I fly HKG-ORD on 1 October in F. What are the chances of seeing the new First products?
