CX discouraging us to view ex-outport offers on its website?
On the CX website, in addition to switching between Traditional Chinese and English versions, I used to be able to switch to CX Taiwan or CX UK websites easily as well. This was useful to check out the latest time-limited ex-outport offers.
Now this has been "enhanced":
Is that how they want to hide how cheap ex-outport fares are to HK-based customers?

This must be a IT glitch.
I am currently in Europe and all I can get is the HK website with no other options as above. VPN would obviously not help.
After some detective work, I found a solution if you have urgent needs. Just type the country main webpage. For example, for France, Germany and HK nte the last component of the url with the language (minuscule) and country (cap):
https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/fr_FR.html
https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/de_DE.html
https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_HK.html
I assume that this glitch will be quickly resolved

You can actually change to another country by typing the country code. For example, i'm in Australia so the website is EN-AU you can change that into EN-CN and it will take you to the mainland China website
But you will need to know the code
But you will need to know the code

Actually I have this wondering for a year already....
Before this new design changing country is definitely useful for searching ex-outport fare... But now seems even in HKG website if I input TPE in Origin input box it still shows the same fare as I switch to ZH-TW page.... Does anyone else also have this experience?

It is all about the IP Address
Your IP address will tell the system your location and therefore it delivers the website applicable to that location. Some make it very hard to over-ride the location (and some site creators are too dumb to allow a language choice) often with the intention to stop cross border arbitrage of services and costs. This can extend to preventing accepting offshore credit cards for purchasing products and services.
Incognito mode will not affect this as its purpose is to eliminate browsing history tracking, and your activity remains public to the websites you visit and any administrators.
The functional way to mask an IP is to use a VPN, but even here the websites are catching up.
