Quick reminder (in my excitement, I almost forgot as well): Citi Prestige and Citi PM do NOT count RMB/MOP spending as "Overseas". So you'll be earning at the bonus local rates for those cards if you pull them out in those regions.

Sorry if this question has been answered already somewhere else, but I could not find in the hongkongcard forum percy posted earlier discussing WeChat Pay or the FB post. Does Citi Prestige earn the standard HK$6/AM for WeChat Pay? I saw Citi PM and Rewards listed, but not Prestige

The T&C for awarding points are common for both Citi Prestige and Citi Premiermiles, aren't they https://www.citibank.com.hk/global_d...ds/eng/tnc.htm ?!

Oh OK, got it. Wasn't sure if there were differences since it wasn't listed. I will try it out and report back then...

You can also try calling Citi to check with them directly. I did this for one of my cards and they confirmed that it worked with Wechat and Payme.

Do check your Citi Prestige statement carefully. I was charged for lounge access fee of $250 by mistake even though that I didn't travel on the specify date. Citi did acknowledge the error and reversed the charge.

Just received an email from Citi about 30% Bonus Avios.

Is it worthwhile to transfer to Avios (instead of Asiamiles) if I am using for First/Business class long-haul flight between HKG to Australia, Europe or Latin America? Which one offers less miles if I am mainly flying CX, JAL or Qantas?

Thanks in advance

Generally no - Avios is bad value beyond TYO/SIN for premium cabins (ie CTS DPS onwards)

Mannings Promo hsbc

Sorry if this is obvious....

Can gurus please advise... Mannings is running the HSBC promo again... What is the optimal amount to buy each week? Hkd3000? This is using (a) premium visa and (b) signature visa. There's are two persons so two cards. Assuming that hkd 3000 is optimal and 6x applied for overseas spending (silly) , how many miles does that yield?

Many thanks.

I have a situation as follows and would like to get some recommendations to have the less fees.

I have a HK Issued credit card. Let me put an example:
1. Let say if you want to buy a Malaysian Airlines airticket flying out from KL to HK. On the website it has the option to pay in the following currency MYR or HKD. Which one would you choose?
2. Let say if you want to buy a Singapore airlines airticket flying out from SG to HK. On the website it has the option to pay in the following currency SGD or HKD. Which one would you choose?
3. Let say if I book a hotel in Malaysia, same situation to be paid in MYR or HKD? Which one should I go?

I like to know which will incur the less fee/transaction/exchange rate.

Thank you.

Always select the foreign currency, e.g. MYR and SGD from your examples #1 and #2 .

2 reasons:

1) Credit card rate will always (read: 99% of the time) be better than the rate the merchant gives you;

2) Credit cards tend to offer more rewards for FCY transactions, and so even if the rate is exactly the same between the CC and the merchant, the extra perks make the FCY more worthwhile.
