NO, you can't transfer CX to AA.
Believe me, if I could do that, I wouldn't have any CX miles in my account.
(It would also defeat the purpose of having CX earn miles on every published fare class YVR-HKG but AA only earning on H/R or above)

As they are both one world partners you can book AA award seats using Cathay miles.
Plus Cathay Gold is One World Sapphire.

You are wrong. One can transfer CX miles to AA miles through points.com, but the transfer rate is lousy (7:1) so it's not a good deal.

* Club Miles cannot be transferred.
* Asia Miles can be transferred to AA miles at points.com as FewMiles said but it is a bad deal.
* OP may attempt to see if AA matches CX Gold, but I am not sure whether it can be done or whether it makes sense. I think AA forum members may be able to help on this subject.
