Correct.

The question becomes, what is the optimal spending there considering there's a limit of 50 bonus RC per week that can be earned from Mannings? Does this 50 bonus RC includes the $10 extra (for spending on Mannings from Fri-Sun) as well as the HK$30 from designated merchants Option C?
Mannings extra 50RC/week limit only counts the 10RC Mannings extra.
The 30RC counts under the 200RC/week 1,200RC/promo limits

Local merchants are any merchant in HK excluding designated merchants (clause 4).

Assuming you get the worst combo, Combination C:

(1RC = 15 AM, all in terms of extra RC ignoring basic RC/6X bonus):
Mannings: 40RC per $500, $0.833/mile
Broadway/Times Square/New Town Plaza: 30RC per $500, $1.11/mile
Overseas: 20RC per $500, $1.67/mile
General: 10RC per $500, $3.33/mile

Caps:
200RC/week
60/local merchant/week
1,200RC/promotion (420RC local merchant/promotion)
(if Premier World MC: 1,400RC/promotion (480RC local merchant/promotion))
http://www.hsbc.com.hk/1/2/special/cards/prom210

Red Hot Winter Mannings extra 10RC --> 20RC starting 10/1
So in the above case, you get 50RC for every $500 Mannings purchase

Max Mannings extra per week lifted from 50RC to 80RC

Did anyone receive the extra miles from the AsiaMiles promotion that ended in November? Right now I am unable to check my email records, but neither my mother nor I had received anything based on our account activity online.

If you're referring to the Bonus Miles Fiesta, it should be around the end of this month.

Now...if only they could +10RC to oversea spending, making it effectively..$0.79/mile

Re: HSBC

I want to clarify...is it for every HKD 500? or minimum HKD 500? I'm always under the impression of the latter - but want to confirm.

Promotional date starts on 1 December, 2013. Does it go by transaction date or post date?

Both really. Every $500 (so $1,000 counts for 2 awards of [say 30RC], $1,500 for 3 etc).

But transactions <$500 are ignored i.e. you can't combine two $250 transactions even if they take place seconds from each other.

So basically a $800 transaction would only be:
- $800.....3.2 RC (regular)
- $800.....16 RC (5X)
- $500.....20 RC (Prom 210)
..............~39 RC / 585 AM?

All this time I been doing the math at just [$800] X 1.04166 = 833 RC
Guess I been overestimating for transactions above $500, but not yet $1000.

Is the 200 extra RC per week limit inclusive of the maximum 80 RC that is offered by Mannings? Or is it 280 extra RC per week effectively?

Dear Percysmith,

I have a quick question for you. With regard to BCOMM current promotion up to 66500 Asiamiles, I would like to know whether face-to-face purchase of airline tickets are eligible under this promotion? I went to Cathay Pacific Ticket Office in Taipei and used my Bank of Communications Platinum Visa Card to settle my payment for 8 round trip tickets in order to avoid my transaction being classified as mail/fax/phone order. However, Cathay Pacific Taipei Ticket Office told me that sales slips are only available if I use Diners Club or AMEX card. If I use Visa or Mastercard, I would not receive the sales slip since they just input my credit card number in their computer system and obtained the authorization directly online. There is no difference between face-to-face credit card payment and phone order payment. In the event of future disputes, how can I prove that I personally went to Cathay Pacific Ticket Office in Taipei to settle the payments as opposed to giving my credit card information over the phone to purchase the tickets?

Thanks for your prompt response.

Tim
