74A to KIX
i've got an upcoming flight to KIX and its sch'ed for a 74A- I'm wondering if this is a route they sell F seats? Not exactly fond of their new J(Although I'm not caustrauphobic, I really prefer not to sit in such enclosed area) but am ticketing J due to other long haul commitments and prefer the option in case they change into a regional seat or slopey J. Wonder what my other options are... (Would not mind at all to sit at the back due to friends' presence but would keep options open till friends dont get op-uped...)

Yes - if the plane is scheduled as 3-class then they still sell 3-class to KIX. But I get the impression that equipment changes are common. CX Holidays is trying to sell first class packages to Japan, but they have the gall to put a note in the T&Cs saying, in effect, "if we switch the plane to 2-class then you'll travel in regional J even if you've paid for F; don't expect any refund", which I think is quite outrageous.

love this flight; i have no idea why this is a 3-class route but NRT only gets regional 2-class service. but each time i fly in the last year, it has always been a 74A.
not a lot of paid pax in F, but i frequently see opups.
anecdotally, i find the pax they opup to F are almost always japanese. i dunno why that is.

Anyway, I was wondering as well if I decide to sit at the back will it be terribly frowned upon?
