OneWorld Award
Does this itin count as 3 carriers for the purpose of OW award?
HKG-YYZ (CX)
YYZ-ORD (AA)
ORD-YYZ (QF codeshare on AA metal)
YYZ-HKG (CX)
If so, this would let me do this itin for 190,000 in First Class.
Anyone have experience with how codeshares count (or don't count) for the 3 carrier threshold?

I may be wrong, but I don't think you could redeem on codeshares - so your route would count as a roundtrip award. To qualify for a oneworld award, try HKG-NRT-JFK-YYZ instead. The new F suites on JL look pretty good.

That's not a bad idea, then I also get to try out the F suites on JL.
Anybody flown both and care to compare?
Only one problem, NRT-HKG has no F!

Do you mean CX does not have F on this route. If so, you can try JL as long as you have one segment with CX.
I heard people saying that JL J/F class awrd ticket is hard to get. Maybe not any more in the economy downturn? I saw CX releasing more and more J/F award ticket now.

i was able to book JFK-NRT in JL J just a few weeks ago, for a trip in march 2010.
when i booked this time last year for a flight in march 2009, JFK-NRT in JL J was impossible to get ... even booking 9 months in advance, there were no flights available for the whole of march! in the end i got an AA reward flight in J.
perhaps it is the economic downturn, with fewer pax in J.

For Non JAL Mileage Members
JAL First awards in Suites are now usually only available 7 days Prior.
JAL Solo First are easier to obtain on JFK Service and LAX and ORD until they are withdrawn late October.
J availability has improved due to downturn in the Market.
