I haven't seem them check once....and most, they only jokingly ask you how old are you. If they really want to know your age....they can simply just check the flight's manifest without having to card you.

how old do you look? and how old are you? No offense, but common sense here. if you're 12 and look like you're 12, then you're probably not going to be drinking Krug. whereas if you look like you're around 17/18, I doubt anyone is going to say anything.

I have had it both ways in F or J. Before I was 18, I have been told by FA they are more than willing to serve me alcohol (which I declined). After I am 18, I have had FA saying I looked too young and so they did not give me the wine list.
