Lounge in JFK

When flying CX in 1st from JFK which lounge can be used? If multiple lounges, which do you recommend?

You can only use the BA First Class lounge which is a dump. There's no proper food, no showers(if no BA flights are departing). The JFK lounge is the weakest link in the entire journey from JFK to HKG. By the way, the fast track customs doesn't work if there are no BA flights flying out at the time of ur departure.

I am on the 10:10 am flight, i assume that there are no BA flights leaving at that hour. Am i better off using the biz lounge?

There are in fact BA flights leaving JFK in the early morning, I'd think at around 8-9am, earlier than the 841. Those flights are part of a (smaller than the evening) bank of European departures that arrive in Europe at night. I'd imagine that the BA lounge would stay open with full service for pax on the CX flight.

I much prefer the BA J lounge over the F lounge at JFK. More space.

Me too. The livelier feel (more lighting, lighter-colored decor, etc. in addition to the space) wins me over.

I only prefer the F lounge when there are delays in the QF and CX flights, because those tend to cause the J lounge to fill up too much.

I'll be on 841 in F in July. Is the first meal service breakfast (I hope) or the usual salmon, caviar and dinner?

It's F - the meal service is whatever you want it to be whenever you want it.

Dinner for 10:10AM departure?

I don't know about F, but it is brunch and lunch for C.

Correct. I went for "dinner" first, then tried to sleep...depending on the load, meal service can take a while, even with the small cabin.

Comments on the BA F lounge have been accurate, definitely nothing to write home about.

Well, yes, but I just came off 830, an 0930 departure HKG-JFK, and breakfast food (e.g., eggs) is not catered on this flight (and, IMO, should be). That's why I asked.

As a lowly Silver I only had experienced in the BA J lounge and always wondered about the F lounge, until I got taken in by a friend of mine who is a Diamond, and I was quickly disappointed. Small place, no good food, and really nothing special. I quickly told him had he ever been to J lounge that it's a lot better, and he looked at me as if I'm crazy, but I convinced him to go take a peek and we did.

3 years later he told me he's never gone back to F but always use BA J at JFK. The only time he uses F is when he wanted dinner at BA F
