Converting amex to cathay pacific
Can't seem to get an answer from anyone out here in Dubai, and have tried online with AMEX, but no success.
We have 135,000 Amex Membership points. We would like to take 2 flights from Dubai to NZ (via HK), and are trying to find out what the conversion is from AMEX to Cathay. We thought perhaps we could either get one ticket and pay for the other.
Does anyone out there know....would really appreciate help.

No, AMEX rewards cannot be transferred to Asia Miles. The best you can do is to transfer to an Asia Miles partner.
You can also redeem direct from AMEX reward points, but it costs too much.
*** I stand corrected. The above is for US. ***

I think it's possible, if your card would fall under the last row, "Middle East", here ?
Asia Miles - Earn Miles > Finance & Insurance - American Express

Because credit cards earn at different rates in different countries, the conversion rates are also different. You've gotten info from a number of countries above, but to get the best info for your specific product, you need to either look at the chart posted by tedhl or call your bank directly. If you've already tried your bank in Dubai (which one?) then it is possible that they are not linked with Asia Miles in the program, since partners are different in different regions. In that case your best bet would be to move your points to another oneworld partner (Royal Jordanian for instance?) as this would give you the best chance to redeem on CX flights by using those points.
