Great crew!!!
Just got off my first long haul in business on CX, having a cold beer at the Long Bar waiting for my connection.
On the flight over, the pax next to me had his birthday today. The purser congratulated him as he sat down, and about 30 mins before landing 3 cabin crew came out, discreetly sung him happy birthday and presented him with a card signed by the crew and a gift!
I thought this was a great touch, i have not seen this before. is this standard on CX or just a cool crew?
Anyway, very impressed with the flight and looking forward to my next leg in a couple of hours.^

this brings back good memories ...
on my first ever flight in CX F, i flew HKG-FRA. it was my birthday (the next morning) and they sang happy birthday before breakfast!
luckily, there were only 2 other pax in F ... or else i would have been very embarassed.
it was completely unexpected as i was on an award ticket and i'm a lowly green MPC member after all!
i still remember how they kept on saying that i didn't look old enough to be a doctor ....

It all depends on the crew and did the ground / check-in staff make a note in the system on check-in that it is the birthday of the pax... if the ground staff did make a note in the system, it will show up in the passenger manifest, if not, then it won't, this is due to privacy issues that the passenger manifest don't usually show pax date of birth.
However, if you are a member of Marco Polo Club, I think the system automatically flag you and listed it as your birthday on the passenger manifest. So if there is a note in the system, the crew will usually do something special for the passenger, unless the crew are very grummpy that day.

The old MPC 'Surprise and Delight' CRM system did indeed list things like birthdays on the passenger list.... its been a few years since i've worked for CX so no idea if this is still the case, but I guess it would be.
