Lots of my colleague got invitation if they flied two roundtrip HKG--SFO in one calendar year. I do not know the exact criteria, but it seems that if you fly more than 30K mile, you will be invited.

So is it official that this would happen, because a friend of mine wants to do a MR to get that status but to make sure so he wont be wasting his money
