Hi all,
I am currently booked on KUL-HKG-JFK-HKG-KUL in Y. The KUL sectors will be on the 330 (not sure which config.) and the JFK ones will be on the 77W. I am currently booked for 30A on both KUL sectors, and aisle seats in the forward compartment on the JFK sectors.
My questions:
1. Is 30A on the 330 tolerable for a short flight like KUL? This is my first time on the 330 in Y, but I know that seatguru says limited legroom due to bulkhead. Any opinions?
2. I currently have the option of switching into 30E for both JFK sectors. Which is preferable, 30E, a bulkhead middle, or an aisle seat? All other 30/31 are blocked. Again my first time in the 77A in Y. How much legroom does the bulkhead have?
Any help appreciated.

arent all Y class seats as bad as each other. I have only ever flown y once on CX 777 and 330 but the front rows always look pretty roomy expecially the emergency exit ones, by that I mean the outside seats not the middle ones. I was on a 777 yesterday and when I looked back into Y the sat in the emergency exit row looked very comfy
IMHO, Front row bulkhead seats are always the best seats in Y. Although I prefer aisle seats than window and like the middle section the most.
For 77A, 31C or H is best for me. Tried in on a short haul flight with my wife and legroom was really good (huge). If your flying alone, I think 30D or G is better.
Front Row = First Row

There are always some people who like bulkhead seats. I personally do not like a wall in front of me. I like to stretch my feet.Originally Posted by luial

(31A-C & H-K)
I prefer to be "up front" than be somewhere in the middle (emergency exit row seats)

As I said the guy who had the aisle seat yesterday on the 777 I was on had tons of room but the plane was really empty and Y class I think everyone had a row to themselves and there was on 9 of us in C class

Yes, I like these exit row seats. I believe those seats are 31A-C/H-K. Only the middle seats are numbered as 30D-G. I do not like 30D-G because of the bulkhead.Originally Posted by luial

So would you go for a random aisle seat in the back (ie. 32C) or 30E? Only 30E out of all the 30s and 31s are available. I do not want to be in the 2nd compartment because of the masses of people that will be ahead of me for customs, plus I will be connecting on both flights.Originally Posted by cxfan1960

You are right, 77A's don't have row 30 on the (window) sides. Got mixed up already. In my previous post, I even mentioned 31C or H on the 77A (how could I forget

On the 77A? I'd go for 32C (aisle). I hate being in any middle seatOriginally Posted by jumbojet19920711

Referring to the OP, having flown the 77A four times, I found out that all Y seats have pros/cons. Exit row seats are good due to its huge amount of leg room, however, this row DOES NOT have window. Also beware that all IFE boxes are located at D. 30E I will not suggest as there is a chance that the person sitting beside you will be taking care of a baby along with all those baby equipment.
All in all, I will suggest any G seats if you're not a window person. Also, if you sit on a G seat, you will only have a 50% chance of someone crawling ontop of you during a washroom break.
