Really ?
I am confused.
According to GC2 (http://gc.kls2.com/),
PEK (ZBAA) is the new airport code.
BJS is the city code.

Expertflyer, and Oneworld Timetable have the same result.

BTW, Shanghai is also confusing.
SHA is the old airport code (JL,NH have HND-SHA flights)
PVG is the new airport code.

Sorry - I stand corrected.I had in my mind that Beijing Capital was a new airport and hence a new code whereas it was essentially new terminals on the same field.

You are right in that PEK does seem to be the new airport (only) and BJS the city code (also including Beijing Nanyuan airport, NAY).

Beijing only has one airport - the "new airport" is actually Terminal 3, with the "old airport" being Terminals 1 and 2. They are a short shuttle ride away from each other. Shanghai has 2 different airports - Hongqiao, mainly domestic with a few international flights to Japan and Korea and Pudong, mainly international (including all HK flights), with over 40 km between them. Hongqiao is SHA and Pudong is PVG.

Sorry christep, but PEK has been the IATA airport code for a very long time. Well before the opening of the new terminal on the existing PEK airport. PEK is (was) to BJS what CDG or ORY are to PAR, and LHR or LGW are to LON. However, it is true that some airlines use BJS in their ticketing (e.g. KA). A bit confusing indeed.

Yes, I know that now. Sorry. What more can I say? Shall I go outside and whip myself or something?

I am currently in Paris and it is snowing. The freeze might make the whip more bearable. Your posts are always so useful, right and precise that I could not resist to start the year being naughty, sorry.
