Open times for check-in counters
Is there a listing of the times at which check-in counters open? I could not locate it at the CX website. I'm particularly interested in learning at what time I can check-in at JFK for the flight to YVR, since I will be arriving on AA at 6pm and don't know if it would be better to kill time in AA's terminal or go straight to check-in at CX's terminal.
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

I have once checked in for CX889 when the counter was still opening for CX831. No problem at all and took a long nap in the BA Lounge. I've asked them before, and they say if the CX counter is not open you can go to the BA counter, but I've never tried it myself.

I once was taking an early connecting flight from Florida to NYC to HKG...the connecting time is definitely not enough so I booked the ~2 pm flight JFK-HKG flight and hoped that I could make it to get on the ~10 am flight. but finally I just missed it by 10 mins or so.
by that time the CX check-in counters were closed (the J/F side) (and BA's also not open I think?) anyway, I sat there for some 15-20 mins checking emails and then decided to walk around instead of just waiting. then I found actually the CX counters are still open on the Y side (it's in another row, so I didn't check, I assumed J/F closed = Y closed as well, but it's not in fact). so...it looks to me that if you arrive too early, you might have luck checking in at the Y counters even if the J/F counters are closed. the Y counters might be open nonstop in the day ? (just 1-2 of them instead of full set of Y counters of course)

On the other hand, Monday a week ago they were telling people who arrived at 3 pm for an 11:45 pm flight that they wouldn't open check-in again until 8 pm. (There was special rebooking and voucher handling of passengers from a Sunday evneing flight that had been cancelled that Monday morning after being delayed; this is the only reason why there were even tons of Cathay check-in people around at that hour, I think.) So 4 hours might be stretching it at certain times. (OTOH, 5 hours for the 1:45 am flight is probably no problem, since check-in for it overlaps with check-in for the 11:45 pm flight.)

If the CX counters are closed then check in with BA. I've arrived early at JFK for CX889 a few times and BA happily checked me in.

Does anyone know if this is still the case? I have a long layover, yet too short to want to trek back into NYC. Ill be arriving for the 9:45PM flight to YVR around 4 PM.
