layover in HKG

Slightly off topic, but since CX is based in HKG, thought y'all might have some insight - we will be arriving in HKG on UA at 1645 on Sun 12 Oct and have a connecting flight to BKK on EK departing at 2225 - we'd like to stretch our legs and perhaps nip into HKG via the Metro - anywhere we can go or worth seeing at that time so we can be back at Hkg by 2000-2030? Even if we only have an hour to walk around, we want some HKG experience - We have HK$ so I figure we can get off the plane (our bags will be tagged through BKK), we are in C class on both flights, if that speeds things up, and hit the train to Kowloon or the island pretty quickly.

Thanks!!!

Perhaps this thread would be better suited to the HKG forum, where there are threads about what to do on HKG layovers. For the HK experience, the two things that come to mind are walking the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade for the view of Victoria Harbour or going up to the Peak for the city view from above and behind.

To TST: Airport Express to Kowloon then taxi to the Intercontinental Hotel. Alternatively, Airport Express to Cheung Wan then change to MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui.

To Peak: Airport Express to HK Island terminus, then taxi to Peak Tram and tram to the top, or just take the taxi to the top.

Peak would take significantly more time than TST.

Do a search - this has discussed many times.
In any case take the train. Buy a one day return (buy it at the departure train station or the arrival - you can go on the train without a ticket). 100 HK$ per person for the return ticket to Hong Kong Station (last stop).
Train leaves every 12 min, trip takes about 25 min.
Calculate around 60-80 min between touch down of the plane and arriving at Hong Kong Station, so you should be there around 18:00 pm.

If you are at the train station 90-100 min before your flight leaves you will have enough time for immigration, security etc. So be back there at 20:50.

Lots of things to do and see. In winter it will be too late for the sunset at the peak. Taxis are cheap. 20-50 HK$ for a ride to most of the attractive sites in the area.

Have fun! Hong Kong is a great city (you should really stay there for a few days....)
