long layover in Vancouver

Coming in to Vancouver on Nov. 21 from AA 887 gives us a 6 1/2 hour layover. We plan to clear customs&immigration and take a cab and go out to dinner and shopping in Richmond, then back to the airport for a 2:00am departure on CX 889. Do cabs in Vancouver take credit cards for payment? As we will be in Canada such a short time, I'd rather not have to change currency. I know we can use a CC to pay for dinner, but am not sure about the cab rides.

Susiesan, I know more about your cruise trip in November than I do about my own trips later this month!

QRC3288:
I hope you are enjoying my travel tales! : ) Shall I write a trip report on my cruise upon returning here or on cruisecritic?

I've received some good advice here on FT about Japanese restaurants in Vancouver from people who live there and pass through frequently, so I figured a FT'er might know about the cabs. I'll also check on tripadvisor and lonelyplanet.

I would like to read about your cruise, but my feeling is that the mod may move that to "Travel & Dining".

If I write a trip review when we get back in December I'll let you know where it is, under Travel&Dining, on tripadvisor, fodors, or cruisecritic. it may be on multiple sites as there is also a week in Cambodia as part of this vacation. I'll post comments about the CX flight portion of the trip here.

Susiesan, I live in Vancouver and remember that cabs to take credit card. But just in case, have like 25 Canadian dollars around, if not, they usually do take US dollars although not at a good rate. You should look up a few cab companies number before coming since it's not easy to hail a cab here unless ur at downtown.
