Checking for Award Availability

I am currently booked on JFK-SFO-HKG flight on AA/CX in F, using my AA miles for travel in October. On the way back AA just canceled a midday flight from SFO to JFK and now I have a 9 hour layover. I've been calling AA pretty regularly to see if a more direct route is available and had no luck so far.

Is there a website, similar to expertflyer.com or a travel agency which for a fee could check the availability for me daily? Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

You might try posting on the AA forum, but since the schedule change was AA's fault they ought to make more of an effort to reaccomodate you, regardless of AAnytime award availability.

The issue is finding space on CX not AA. American is willing to accomodate in any way, but given the time I arrive to SFO, there are just no other flights to JFK. So the question and hope remains that I can find space on CX flyint into LAX, YVR, YYZ, or even JFK... nothing so far

Award inventory is different. Inventory available to Asia Miles is different from that available to other programmes. In your case, it depends on what AA allots to AAdvantage members. So it naturally belongs to the AA forum.

Having said that, you can only call AA and take their word for it, unfortunately.

You can check CX award availability on BA (assuming you have a BA acct #). Just enter the route (i.e. HKG-YYZ) and date, pick class of service and hit search, it will ask you if you want to stopover in London, (say NO), then it will ask you if you want to check its partner carriers as BA does not fly HKG-YYZ, then it will show avail CX flights. One option for you may be HKG_NRT_JFK on JL.

If you don't have access to BA system, send me your dates and I will search for you. Ialways use the BA tool to search CX and other oneworld avail, then call AA and give them the flight numbers. Having an AA agent search for you is hit or miss, also for some reason, if you want to go from say BKK-JFK, AA will tell you no availability, the reason is the two legs should be separated BKK-HKG, then HKG-JFK.

I have a BA account but can't find the search tool. Can you please post a link to that search utility? I have tried several times over past few days but I am getting an error everytime, so want to make sure the link I am clicking on is correct. Thanks!

If "class of service" means booking class, then Z.

Class of service for CX F is 'First'. It wasn't that hard to figure that one out, was it?

Try CX routing from HKG to Toronto (YYZ). American should be able to get you from YYZ to JFK no issues. CX from HKG to YYZ tends to have good award availability and you can limit your travel time on AA.

Once you log-in with your acct #, then click on the tab on the left side "spending BA miles", at the next screen click on tab under Using BA miles "make a booking" or "check availability". The next screen will allow you to check available flights on BA and partner airlines and book awards online.

If you don't have an accoutn with BA, you will not be able to access the exclusive content area.

Thanks! It turned out that although I had a login with BA, I was not a member of Executive Club. I signed up for that and I can see that search function.

Red face

sorry for pulling this up again-

I'm planning on a HKG-KIX//ITM-x(HND/NRT)//NRT-LHR-xAMS-HKG for missus in J with a oneworld award (Happens to be a LOT miles-cheaper)
For that, now I have to look for availability on NRT-LHR. I suppose JL, BA and AY offers the route without backtracking to HKG.
1. How do I track availability on the dates I'm after? I've tried QF and they have a mismatch on what they can see and what CX can see.
2. how would you rate the 3 airlines on J? horizontal bed is not a big+ and would rather have the service. I've never done JL on Long-haul and let along in J, and never done AY all together.
3. Oneworld Awards, IF you can get the seat, has better value?
