Well if you are in London, thats 12000 miles each return trip. With 2 university semester per year, and a mid semester break, thats easily 4 trips back to HK per year, and throw in one extra and you make your 60000 miles for Gold.

I go back to HK whenever I want, but I never paid any tickets higher than I class. Moreover, I normally have some business trips with my dad or his colleagues during holidays (mainly in Economy).

Folks , I found the holy grail for consistent Inflight Service on CX! (and it is not being a DM)
As Gold member seated next to the wife of the CX Head of Flight Operations, I saw the best service ever given to her. As a loyal revenue passenger, I was completely ignored. The ISM met her at the door, took her bags , made sure her VGML was correct, champaign for her and priority disembarkation on arrival.
So the best way to ensure consistent service is to be a) wife of the chief pilot, b) be the chief pilot.
Then again, Kudos still to CX for their efforts in the cabin. ( TG's Royal Service ends at the Gate. Thai FAs completely disregard their loyal Gold members in the cabin )

I'm a new QF WP and was flying AKL-HKG on 108 a couple of weeks ago in J and was treated like royalty. I mentioned to the ISM that I've always wanted to make a PA announcement, and she allowed me to make the announcement announcing descent!
CX ground staff has alot to learn, but once your in the air, my expectations are always surpassed.
