Really nice FAs

I made GOLD in the middle of July last year and since then I have flown another 6 round trips to South Asia. What amazes me is the fact that in the during the last 4 segments, especially on the transpacific sectors the flight attendants were really taking care of me. It was just like having a personal butler, they could not do more. And this was in Economy. On a HKG-JFK, the inflight manager offered me a full C class meal and anything else from the front. I will probably end up DIAMOND this year, unless I et a new job, but CX cannot bet on this and all the fare I got were not that expensive. Is this a normal procedure with GOLD and DIAMOND?^ I did not notice many pax singled out. Well, it was super nice anyway

No, that is not normal, not even for a Diamond. Some ISMs are really nice though. It is at their discretion to give you nice gestures as such.

As a GO many years back I was treated very very well for the 8 months I was GO (before DM) - sometimes even better then on some flights today as a DM (going on 5 yrs now).

Once the wife an I were flying to HKG-BKK, we both got J meals in Y, and shortly before landing were escorted to J seats so we could exit with all the J passengers. The flight was amazingly empty. A pure gesture of kindness.

Although I was never offered J meals while in Y, I was offered J snacks and J noodles from time to time. I was even offered caviar once^, but I declined as I would feel a little strange having that in Y.

I felt that too. Perhaps that is because there are more Diamonds now with the KA Elite members joining.

But the renewal limits are the same as the qualifying limits. Also 120K miles is probably about the highest among airlines, although 80 sectors is about the lowest.

I felt the same way when I was GO. Really great service, FA's made you feel very comfortable even in Y. However, early this month, I flew as Diamond and did not even get a single peep from the ISM or the FA's.

I'm flying again this week so we'll see.

I've been gold for 2 years and haven't received any special treatment - except an occasional welcome from the ISM.

I have been upgraded though 50% of the time, which isn't a bad record

On a flight from MNL to HKG, the ISM came up to me, pre-departure, and asked if she could get me anything. I was a bit surprised since this was the first time an ISM has ever really approached me on any airline. I've been GO with CX for about 2 years now. I didn't really know how to react so I just instinctively said, "No, I am fine. Thank you." But she brought me a bottle of water from J anyway. I wish I got that sort of service on the JFK-HKG route, since that's the route I fly regularly, but what with the high number of Golds and Diamonds on that route, I guess I'm not as special. Still, I was impressed with that particular ISM.

Was she from the Philippines? My two most favorite ISMs were originally from the Philippines.

Actually, I never thought to ask. She didn't look Filipina to me. I assumed she was from Hong Kong. But still, impeccable service, and in Y too.

Renewl Limits - MPC thresholds are all ready very high!

if you compare AA and CX:

Ruby Status
AA - 25000
CX 30000

Sapphire
AA - 50000
CX - 60000 - 9 business class sectors to London
BA - 600 tier pts - 5 business class sectors to London

There are also no bonuses on CX.

I'm a lowly AA PLT and on all 8 of my CX flights I've had the ISM do the pre-flight 'meet and greet'. Very nice touch.

FAs

I will find out in April if this is a constant behaviour. I have a week off, probably in Bali, the fare MCO-LAX-HKG-JFK-MCO is very decent, a little over $1000. Then it will be intesting to compare CX and SQ as I managed to book an I fare HKG-SIN-DPS-SIN-HKG and I am going to enjoy SQ business. This is likely the best 30000 UAL miles I have ever used, hoping I will not bumped by SQ.
