Thanks for the link. Nice to get good news during the holidays.
The last line tells me the AP reporter doesn't know much about CX - 'regional hub?' Wonder where s/he thinks their worldwide HQ is?

from a local HK newspaper I'm reading now (Apple Daily), it actually says now instead of a "pre-announced strike", there's a chance it might be a "sudden massive sick leave", so that CX cannot prepare at all...

BAA are still talking to the Union but they have ballotted for strike action; results will be due soon and then there is the notice period; earliest the strike could start by my calcs is 27 Dec. The biggest problem is not the terminal staff, it is the airport firefighters who are BAA employees. If they take action, there is no way round the situation and the airport will have to be closed - they cannot draft civilian firefighters in

No they are not trained to the same standards and there are not enough as there are so many that are operaional elsewhere;longer term they could try and draft in from National Fire Service but they may not co-operate as their Industrial relations climate is shaky. Fingers crossed this is not an issue

.
) I do hope there's an acceptable compromise in view, so that the cabin crews' morale isn't affected too much.
