Had my first wagyu beef in the air onboard SYD-SIN flight on the A380. ^

Thanks for sharing, tfung.

I would have expected that they would have served Krug.

On the "cheaper" LHR-HKG flights in F, they still serve Krug (based on the menus I've seen).

I'll be on this flight next week, so now I know not to get all excited, and expect anything special food-wise (although CX does have pretty good food, even in Y).

That's exactly what I was just thinking! Cathay.

Anyone know what the menu is like on the JFK-HKG version (841?)? It's a 9am departure -- so is the first meal Breakfast? I'm on it soon and can report back but I'd like to know what to expect in advance.

And what's the first meal on the early HKG-JFK n/s that departs ~10:15? Breakfast there, or do they go straight into lunch?

I'd also point out that it's odd they don't serve any breakfast meal on the 840 as posted above. I would think that given the 7pm departure, most folks would go to sleep after dinner, and then the mid-flight snack should be a breakfast.

Truly unbelievable that they serve the mediocre W Deutz 1998 on such a flight! Had recently Krug on CDG-HKG, for a fraction of the price of HKG-JFK.

On CX 840 (11/18) the Y menu was:

Brunch
Seasonal mixed fruit
Fruit yoghurt
Scrambled eggs huevos rancheros
or Chicken and black mushroom congee
Banana nut muffin
Tea and coffee

Lunch
Shrimp salad with cocktail sauce
Sweet and sour pork, steamed rice
or Baked salmon with white wine butter sauce, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables
or Gemelli putanesca with mozzarella
Austrian chocolate cake
Tea and coffee

Snack
Snacks are available throughout the night

Since the flight leaves at 9am and arrives at 2pm (local times), I think the idea is that you eat, go to sleep (the FAs make everyone pull the shades down), wake up and then are on HK time, so it's time for lunch.

Same thing for 841 in reverse (dinner, sleep, "refreshment" = dinner again). The Y menu for 841 on 11/20 was the same as the original post in this thread.

Yeah, right, like I'm going to go to sleep at noon. (not at you). And I ain't shutting my shade all the way either - the arctic scenery is quite spectacular to watch. Of course with the new J seats it won't exactly be easy to see out the window...

Thanks for the menu update.

This is where not sleeping much the night before is very handy.

Actually, the arctic scenery was very nice. Glaciers, icebergs, but then mostly clouds once we were really far north (and dark of course, it being northern winter). There was a great moment when the half-moon hovered on the horizon in and out of the clouds. It never did rise from our point of view.

I was hoping to see some aurora on the flight, but I was back far enough that the wing light was blinding, so it was too hard to see any faint colors.

It'll be interesting to see how F loads perform on this route these next several months. A cabin for a route that is nearly impossible to afford for most of us and extremely difficult to secure rewards.
