My first FIRST on CX - which flight?
I have about 92,000 orphaned miles with Qantas that I'd like to use for a CX flight in F.
Which route would be the best value for points?
My aim is to connect through HKG to use the F lounges and to sample 'real' F service, if possible. I can fly from almost anywhere in Asia to almost anywhere as I can usually tie it in with business or leisure some time.
Thanks!

I'd think you might want to consider a few things:
1) equipment - 747 would be preferable in my book ^ for the intimacy and privacy of the forward cabin
2) flight time - you'd want a long enough flight to sample different meals :-:
3) time of day - an all-night flight where sleeping time takes up most of the flight wouldn't give you as much service from the f/a's as a daytime flight
Have I missed anything?

Thank you for the replies. Yes, I figured those would be the deciding factors. The trouble is matching that to a specific flight/route.
Any suggestions?
(kchika, mileage obviously differs based on distance flown but my 95K miles gets me up to 4,800 miles in F).

How many QF points do you have is the more pertinent question. You might have enough points for a HKG/TPE flight or something more substantial.
You can check out where you can go by logging into your QF account and clicking on the "where can I go" button.

As I mentioned in my first post, I have about 92000

For non MPO members, award redemptions on these routes are all very difficult...

CX website still shows only 2 ac with 74A and 4 with premium product. Am I missing something here or are CX upgrading certain equipment for different routes as in 74A and 74 premium - upgraded J but same same F and Y?

There are 4 74Js. They have larger J cabins ("old" J though) and are mainly used on the LAX route.

Although getting the new F would be great, it is not my main concern. As mentioned it will be difficult to get seats as a non MPO member. Also I don't have enough miles for the longer routes.
So, which of the 'longer short' routes (up to 4800 miles) gives the best CX F experience?
Thanks!

Pick carefully if you are selecting SYD or MEL CX use A340's so it might not be to your liking. I hear also that CX will eventually go to 2-class services to AUS so if you are booking your flight a long way out you might be unpleasantly surprised that your F award becomes J.
