Transit in Shanghai

If I am booked on a CX HKG-PVG then a JL PVG-NRT-HNL on two separate PNRs but on the same day will CX issue BPs for JL?

Also, will I need an extra visa for PVG?

It is very complicated. It depends on your nationality, and Shanghai is also being treated differently. Pls refer to:

In fact, it is better to call them regarding your exact situation.

I would always have at least a single entry visa at hand. Transit at PVG is a PITA in any case and no need to make it more uncomfortable by having to argue with immigration if they have a bad day.
