744s to and from NRT

I am due to start my next AONE4 RTW trip in NRT soon, and will find myself in either HKG or TPE shortly before. So I need to get to NRT in time to catch CX 505 departing at 18:30. Looking at the schedule, there are two 744s flying to NRT, CX 504 arriving at 14:00 and CX 451 via TPE arriving at 16:45.

I'm assuming that the aircraft operating this latter flight is then used for CX 505 back non-stop to HKG, which means I could safely take 451 to NRT from TPE without any risk of not making the turnaround. Is this correct? Are there any other 744 flights that CX operates out of NRT? I haven't been able to find any, but I wanted to verify before booking a ticket.

CX operates two 744 to/from NRT daily. They both fly a triangular route.

- CX504/CX451 HKG-NRT-TPE-HKG
- CX450/CX505 HKG-TPE-NRT-HKG

I think you want to take CX450, not CX451, to catch CX505.

Correct. And no, those are the two 744 flights each day.

Note that if you are into Japanese food and are travelling to NRT in F then only 504 from HKG has the kaiseki meal available; 450 via Taipei doesn't.

Thank you TerryK and christep for your replies. It is indeed 450 to NRT and not 451. I'm not that crazy about Japanese food, and the kaiseki meal will, I am afraid, be wasted on me. I have done the both routes in F before (non-stop and via TPE) and was perfectly content with the non-kaiseki option.

Can someone give me a little feedback on this issue.

I want to get 3 award seats in F on a certain date next year. As circumstances have it, I could get all 3 in F on the NRT-TPE-HKG and tend to want to do this over the NRT-HKG on which I would have to put two of us in F and one in C.

The TPE flights are "full F" service (other than the Kaiseki meal), right?

For an extra 2 hours total time, keeping everyone in F seems worth it. Anyone want to tell me why this is not the right choice?

Thanks!

Never mind, amazingly, the third F seat on 505 came available overnight ^
