Based simply on your AC Elite, I would say the chances are low to nonexistent.

However, if you have a few long haul J/F trips booked they may be inclined to give you Silver, which has few useful benefits (mainly J lounge access when flying CX only). If they're not totally convinced you may have to settle for a free MPO Green membership however.

CX rarely comps above Silver.

How about if I had 6 J-class roundtrips Berlin-Hong Kong in the last 4 month, which I can proof by showing them a copy of my online statement - and booking a J flight with them? Will they match me in this case to Gold level?

I don't know the current policy, but a few years ago when I looked into this CX would not comp to Gold. I had a dozen F flights with them over a 3 month period, but credited to QFF and I wasn't an MPC member. CX would not comp to Gold (and I really wanted Diamond, which is quite hard to earn from scratch). Also the 4xdaily LHR-HKG flights are selling out these days, so CX has as much business as it can handle, making a comp that much less likely.

My own experience with them was more positive. I contacted them 2-3 years ago, and rather than asking for a status match, I told them that I was interested in joining the MPC, but was reluctant to work my way up from Green to Diamond. They looked at my travel with them over the previous couple of years and the bookings that I had (I can't recall how many bookings I had at that time), and offered to make me Diamond immediately, and even to comp my wife Gold, which was very kind of them. This did, of course, endear them to me, and I have kept my status as Diamond since based on my travelling. They were very nice to deal with.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I presume I would not have much of a chance of getting comped either, I'm BAEC gold at present and will be moving to HK.

No, but when you move to HK and transfer your BA Gold to an Asian address my experience was that I was comped at BA Gold for an extra year, which gave me plenty of time to get up to Diamond (took me 14 months from scratch) without a gap in OW Emerald privileges.

Wow! You must have had some serious flying going on for that to happen.

this "extra year" of BA won't happen anymore I think...I think they changed the system ~2 years or so ago...so now when you move to a new region, your membership year won't get reset and so you won't get the extra time.

I was flying enough to comfortably make Diamond with just CX flights, but nothing more than that. They were very pleasant about it, and didn't try to make out that they were doing me a favour. I didn't realise at the time that this was not that common.

I suppose your flights were in First, right?

Yes - First on flights where they had it, Business where they didn't.
