Will I have to go between different terminals in this case?

Thanks, YVR Cockroach, for helping me in the earlier thread. Now, this is a different question:

I have two segments IAD-LAX on AA143 and LAX-HKG on CX 883. Regardless of whether I go out of airport to shower, eat, rest etc, will the AA (domestic) and CX (international) flights be at the same terminal? Or do I have to go between different terminals anyway?

Thanks a lot.

IAD-LAX arrives into T4, LAX-HKG departs from TBIT (a 3 minute outdoor walk from T4).

I see. Thanks. Will it mean I will have to clear customs etc before I get to the outdoor walk?

I would imagine there is no need as I would only be arriving domestically within USA and therefore there is no need to clear anything when exiting T4?

Thanks.

Nothing to clear at all. Hopefully AA can through check your luggage so you won't even have to pick it up at T4 to carry over to TBIT - but I am not sure about that - others may have better info.

I'ce conntected through LAX a lot - everything should be checked through. It's a very easy connection T4 to the TBIT

Returning?

On the way back, if this applies, your stuff will be checked through to your final destination, however you will still have to claim it at TBIT, go through cutoms, and then re-check it onward.

The reason I bring this up is that so many times there is such a long line to re-check the luggage, it's best to carry it over to T4 and check it there.
