Diamond qualification

Hi everyone:

Does anyone know if Cathay will round up for re-qualification of Diamond status? My co-worker is currently a Diamond card member, and he will get to 115K club miles by the end of his qualification period, which leaves him 5K short of renewal. He is going to try to take an extra trip or two, but his schedule makes it extremely difficult to fly enough to get the 5K necessary. Does Cathay have a cushion? (He has been a Diamond card members for 7 of the past 8 years).

thanks

Get him to call Marco Polo, I know my friends managed to convince them to give him a little bit of cushion when he was in similar position. However, there were a few catches to that 1)future non-CX flights will not be considered in granting of that "cushion" & 2)future CX trips has to be booked (and preferrably with tickets issued) before they will consider your request.

Good luck.

I'd also heard that rather than letting passengers get status without the extra 5k, CX will sometimes give you an extra month to get that extra bit of mileage you need.

I was in same situation. I emailed MPO and they answered with a 2 month extension of my deadline.

I have to email them back when I have done my qualification and they will re-instate my tier. The 2 month extension comes off the next qualitying period. ie I now have only 10 months in which to rack up.
