I'm hoping that Air China would adopt some of CX's best practices. I highly doubt they'd replace management or change the quality of the product. Look at Lenovo's takeover of IBM: I hate PCs, but it's still a solid product.

And then what will Cathay be like if Air China buys CX..?
Who said Swire was selling? And even then, it would not be CA that would be buying anything because CX is worth way more.

More likely CX+swire will sell out its stakes in KA and then CNAC will hopefully allow CX to operate (freely) into China.

Hello all.

First post in the CX forum. I was just wondering if anyone had a ballpark figure of how many asiamiles i would need to upgrade for a business class fare at the counter flying from YYZ to HKG when purchasing a full economy class fare? or if theres a redemption bonus how many it would take to get it at the travel agent when booking? Thanks!

Er, this information is readily available on the CX website, where you can also book tickets and redemption upgrades. I'm not sure whether you can do mileage upgrades on departure at YYZ. You need 40,000 miles for a one-way upgrade, 70,000 for a roundtrip.
