cx upgrades

how many cx miles does it take to upgrade from full business to first trans pacific? I am wondering it it would be worth diverting from AA miles to CX's asiamiles program. I'm AA EXP, and sometimes do get op-up'ed, so it may not be worth it. Is it possible to get upgrades and/or other valuable things not already available to AA EXP through the marco polo plan?

To the west coast (5000-7500 miles) 40,000 one way, 70,000 round trip. 7500+ miles: 50,000 one way. 80,000 round trip.

CX Diamond gets you first in priority for the op-up list, plus guaranteed seat at 24 hours notice on any Y fare or full J fare.

Plus pretty good service if you find yourself needing changes /favours etc on the ground.

Marco Polo Club and Asiamiles members get to waitlist on CX award flights. And the ability to upgrade oneway if you want to.

Asiamiles' best deal is YVR-LHR-CDG-LHR-YVR return on BA in J award for only 60K miles. AA wants 90K for the same.

And they are only useful as far as NRT... (e-VIPs require AA metal).
