Question CX C lounge at SIN

How is the CX C class lounge at SIN? I will be flying CX in paid C class from SIN to HKG. Is there a Oneworld lounge at SIN?

Why does one need to announce that you're flying in paid C to HKG? If you have a business class ticket - whether it's free or paid, you are entitled to the lounge.

At SIN, CX uses their new lounge called Skyview Lounge. For information, go to:

Scroll down to Letter "S", post # 17.

There is a BA/QF lounge as well. You may use that if you wish by showing your BP. But there will not be any CX flight announcements there.

Skyview Lounge has been open for 3 weeks, attendants are nice and helpful, lounge overlooks terminal but offerings are limited. If you can access BA/QF lounges, I would say they are superior to the CX one in SIN.

Maybe, just maybe, because the OP has had experience trying to get into another OW lounge, such as AA's AC, or some other US carrier where upgraded tickets are not necessarily valid for entry into the AC if you are not already an club member.

For example, on a domestic AA transcon ticket:

"On the day of departure, passengers eligible for access must provide their government-issued photo identification and one of the following:

* Full-Fare First Class ticket or boarding pass confirmed in F or Z inventory, or
* Full-Fare Premium Class ticket or boarding pass confirmed in P or Z inventory. "

Upgrading using A or X into FC doesn't get you in.

To the OP: The CX lounge at SIN is very nice. Small, but very comfortable. Fresh brewed coffee, tea sandwiches, pastries, open bar, TV.

Oh, and welcome back GB!

Wonderful

It is a nice lounge and there is no separate F and J section.

I just did a report with links to photos to the lounge. If you want to see pictures, please check at the trip report section and it is on my HKG-BKK-SIN-BKk-HKG on CX/AY August 2005 (something like that). the pictures of the lounge are under the SIN-BKK segment.

It is much better than the old lounge, and the lounge is very similar to CX's the Wing at HKG. There is also free wifi if you care.

Do they have a real bar and some proper food inside? Or is it just a fridge from where you can get drinks and some cold snack like in the CIAS lounge?

Assuming that the op has OW Emerald or Sapphire status, otherwise it's the CX lounge only, or a friendly BA/QF lounge agent who is prepared to bend the rules.

Kiltboys is correct - this is an OK place to sit for a few minutes, but do not expect it to be the Wing or the Pier.

The attendants are very nice and they have used some nice architectural tricks to use some odd space at Changi and create a lounge, but that it about it.

The BA/QF lounges in SIN are much better place to relax in than the CX one.
No view of tarmac there though.

GB I'm sure I've heard CX announcements in the QF F lounge at SIN - now there's a nice spot to while away the hours...

When I visited the lounge with a CX BP, I was explicitly warned that they didn't make CX announcements. And they didn't make any.

I do agree, it was a nice place to while away the time. ^

The skyview lounge looks very much other CX outposts now.. in fact am sitting in it right now, but it is 12.30am and am waiting for EK flight, so it is used by AF, KL, NW, AY, Air Mauritius, EK and a few others, incl PPass. So gets more use than just basic CX flights, but is of course larger than the old lounge. Internet access is slooow.

Unhappy

While the lounge is much more modern than the old SIN lounge, CX (IMHO) has severely compromised passenger comfort by sharing it with too many other airlines.

The old lounge was staffed by highly trained CX staff and tickets could be issued/changed as needed. The new lounge is no longer managed by CX; it is staffed by CIAS whose workers do not provide the same degree of service. Furthermore, the lounge is nolonger able to issue tickets and must rely on landside assistance.

Finally, the token CX rep who arrives on the scene approx 40 minutes before flight departure comes wayyyy too late to provide the warm welcoming service which passengers have become accustomed to at the world's best airline. Back at the old lounge, I recall (with positive memories) superb quality of service during long stays because of late plane arrivals, typhoon delays and a strange case of very late departure because arriving passengers refused to leave a flight?! Those were bearable because the lounge was staffed by exceptional CX teams...dd

So, take what you read with a grain of salt...nice clean lounge (too hot in afternoons when sunshines through the large windows) but it feels just like you are just a guest at any other crowded lounge which CX shares around the world.

SSFTH at SIN...no more.
