A380

Does anybody know if they have some plans to buy the A380? When?

I don't know the answer to your question but not long ago (in the last couple of weeks) there was a thread listing all carriers and the number of A380s they'd bought. That will answer your question about CX, EK, and any other carriers where you've posted this question.

Or you could go to Airbus' web site, where I'm sure they brag about the buyers...

Of course Boeing would never brag about their buyers. Perhaps they are too busy gossipping about thier amourous and philandering executives. Or perhaps they are too busy securing "special" deals with the U.S. Air Force. Or perhaps they are too busy finding out information they have no business to find out at Lockheed Martin.

There was a thread on this board not too long ago with a discussion in regards to CX and the A380. You could try searching it.

It seems that CX would more likely to adopt a wait-and-see approach to see how well the A380 is performing in other airlines before they make any decisions. As for 'when', I guess it would be sometime later in this decade (2008 or 2009?) when there oldest B744 turns 20 years old.

Last I heard, CX had no plans to take the A380. It had taken a wait-and-see approach (no doubt connected to its SARS-induced financial sniffles) to the A380 and the 747-ADV. Boeing has aggressively courted CX as a potential launch customer for the 747-ADV, which would have an even more stretched upper deck than the -400, longer ranger, greater overall capacity, and better fuel efficiency (or so Boeing claims). CX seems to be waiting-and-seeing about that, too. So far, Boeing has no orders.
